The only description provided for Thread: An Insidious Tale goes like this: Blumhouse and Atomic Monster is working on a smaller spin-off series titled Thread that will star Kumail Nanjiani and Mandy Moore. While we wait for Insidious: The Red Door to release on July 7, there is already another Insidious project in the works.

Through Gaunt’s manipulation, the citizens of the town gradually turn on one another, resulting in violence that Sheriff Alan Pangborn (Ed Harris) struggles to contain. Gaunt has the remarkable ability of selling people exactly what they want most, but his ideal purchases come at a price that involves more than just money. When a creepy older man named Leland Gaunt (Max von Sydow) moves to a small town in Maine and sets up an antique shop, bad things soon follow. The synopsis for Needful Things went like this: Of course, Joe Bob was excited to show off the 3-hour-cut of the film and even had commentary to light the path. Another perfect reason to pick up this particular release. Outside of the television airing we haven’t seen or heard much of it. The 3-hour-cut of the film aired on Joe Bob Brigg’s Monstervision and had revealed Leland’s hold on several other unfortunate residents of Castle Rock. Well, Kino Lorber is set to release a very nice release of the film that includes all kinds of great features and a very nice and rarely seen 3-hour-cut of the film. However, this film didn’t have the popularity of some of King’s other works.

It does have its fans and I count myself as one of them.

Stephen King’s Needful Things is one of his lesser fave cult hits.
